Cookies

  1. Our website uses cookies.

  2. A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.

  3. Cookies may be either "persistent" cookies or "session" cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed.

  4. Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.

  5. We use both session and persistent cookies on our website.

  6. The names of the cookies that we use on our website, and the purposes for which they are used, are set out below:

  1. we use ASP.NET_SessionId on our website for cache control, such as temporarily storing information on the server about the current session to avoid having to query the database multiple times for the same information. Not used for any sort of tracking and information is discarded when the browser is closed.
  2. we use PSCMS_SESSION for keeping the user logged in and ensuring that other data such as baskets are maintained when browsing around the site. Not used for any sort of tracking and information is discarded when the browser is closed.
  3. we use _cookieok to ensure that the same user is not repeatedly asked whether or not they accept the cookie policy every time they visit the site. Not used for any sort of tracking, contains the same value for everyone ("1", indicating they have dismissed the message)
  4. we use PSCMS_DEBUG to append debugging information to the bottom of CMS webpage requests. Not used for any sort of tracking, contains the same value for everyone ("1" indicating that debugging mode is active)
  5. we use PSCMS_PREVIEW to allow a web developer to browse the website as it would be when they go live with all pending changes to ensure that the site works correctly before putting it live. Not used for any sort of tracking, contains the same value for everyone ("1" indicating that preview mode is active)
